The composition of the participants of IEM Cologne 2022 has been determined
Organizers of the major international CS:GO tournament IEM Cologne 2022 presented the final list of participants. 24 teams from Europe, North and South America, Asia and Oceania will compete for an impressive prize pool of $1,000,000.
The next Intel Extreme Masters will be held in Cologne, Germany, at the height of the summer season from July 5 to 17. Two dozens of the best teams in the world will compete for a cash prize, 10240 rating points and one of the most prestigious world titles at the atmospheric Lanxess arena.
List of participants
8 teams received the right to start directly in the group stage of IEM Cologne 2022. All of them were selected by rating from their regions based on the results of previous competitions. From Europe, FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere, Cloud9, G2 Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, ENCE were directly included in the top 16. From North America – FURIA Esports, Team Liquid.
16 teams will compete against each other for 8 tickets to the group stage. They included – Heroic, Team Vitality, Outsiders, Team Spirit, Astralis, BIG, Sprout, Movistar Riders, MOUZ (from Europe), GODSENT, Complexity, paiN Gaming (from North America), Imperial Sportsbet, MIBR (from South America), ORDER (from Oceania), TYLOO (from Asia).
Spectacular battles at Lanxess-Arena will be held in 3 stages. First, 8 teams will be determined, which will join the 8 favorites. The selection will be conducted according to the following rules: the opening games in the Bo1 format (Best of 1), all the following games in the Bo3 format (Best of 3). This stage will last for two days from July 5 to July 6.
At the second stage, 16 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 8 participants. All battles will be held in the Bo3 format. The trio of the strongest teams from each group will get into the playoffs of the tournament. The winners automatically advance to the semifinals, the second places – to the quarterfinals as a seeded team, the third places – also to the quarterfinals as a non-seeded team. The group stage will be played in four days: from July 7 to July 10.
The decisive playoff meetings are scheduled for July 15-17. In the quarterfinals and semifinals, the winner will be determined on three maps. In the final, the two strongest teams of the tournament will play for the main prize of $ 400,000 on 5 maps. The winner will also receive 3,200 rating points in the BLAST Premier World Leaderboard, the finalist – 1,600 points, and the semifinalists – 1,000 points each.
